Character and Personal Development Pathway

Character Development at All Saints Church of England Academy

At All Saints Church of England Academy, we are committed to developing young people of compassion, integrity, and resilience. Rooted in our Christian core values, our approach to character education helps students shape their thoughts, words and actions so they can be a positive influence in the lives of others and active contributors to their community.

We are proud of the rich experiences we provide both in the classroom and across our wider curriculum offer. Our Character Development Pathway sets out the range of opportunities students will encounter during their time with us, including dedicated personal development time through Enrichment on a Friday morning, music, art, sport, literature, careers education, leadership, and volunteering. These experiences inspire students to embrace new challenges, discover their strengths, and grow personally and spiritually.

Our approach ensures that our provision is intentional, inclusive, and supportive of students’ wider personal development, wellbeing, and readiness for life beyond school. We also support the development of key virtues such as perseverance, kindness, responsibility, and respect which are under pinned by the schools 5 values of: Act Wisely, Help Others, Show kindness, Build Community and Embrace Opportunities and Experiences.

We celebrate students’ engagement through our Values Awards and Character and Participation Badges, recognising those who demonstrate our school values and contribute positively to school life.

The strategic lead for Personal and Character Development is Duncan McConnell, Assistant Vice Principal.

At All Saints, character development is at the heart of our mission: shaping young people who act wisely, show kindness, help others, embrace opportunities, and build community.
